Frequently Asked Questions

First-Class Mail is regular USPS letter option for personal and business correspondence. LetterStream prints your documents, inserts them into envelopes, includes correct postage, and provides them to USPS for delivery.

First-Class letters typically arrive in about 3–7 business days after they are accepted by USPS. Delivery times aren’t guaranteed and can vary by destinationUSPS volume, and other factors. Ensure your addresses are correct and clear for best results.

First-Class Mail does not include tracking or delivery confirmation. Once USPS has control of the letterstracking updates and delivery status will not be available.

First-Class is great for time-sensitive, transactional, or individualized mail like invoices, statements, notices, customer letters, and compliance mail. It also supports forwarding and return service when applicable.

First-Class letters are mailed in our standard-sized, secure, double-window #10 outer envelopes, up to 15 sheets of paper. For mailings that will include 15-75 sheets of paper within the envelopes, we use our larger flat-sized envelopes. For mailings that include more than 75 sheets of paper per envelope, our system will send out via box shipments using cardboard boxes sized for 8.5″ x 11″ sized paper.

Yes. The United States Postal Service (USPS) generally forwards First-Class Mail if a recipient has an active change-of-address on file (usually up to about a year). After that, undeliverable pieces are returned.

There are various reasons a letter may not be delivered. If The United States Postal Service (USPS) can’t deliver a First-Class letter, they will return it to the sender with a general reason provided on the envelope.

A valid US-based return address is required on every mailing when using our services.

Certified Mail or FedEx 2Day both offer tracking and signatures. For critical mailings, consider using Certified Mail for tracking and delivery confirmation, or FedEx for faster delivery and signature.
